One of the numerous ways that a man may be able to be a servant in the Lord's church is by serving as a deacon.  1 Timothy 3:8-13 provides the qualifications that are required by God and, after being tested in his qualifications, a man who desires to serve in this capacity may be appointed within a local congregation.  Under the direction of the elders each deacon accepts various responsibilities to ensure that the resources are in place to provide an orderly assembly in worship and bible study, as well as attending the needs that arise among the members.
